Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Kent Manufacturing has been serving the Grand Rapids and greater West Michigan area since the early 1940's.
What is your primary product or service?
We specialize in the converting of non-metallic flexible materials - pressure-sensitive adhesives, foams, rubber, felt, cork, etc... Our processes include, but are non limited to, die cutting, custom laminations, precision slitting, laser cutting, cleanroom converting and light assembly.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Kent Manufacturing is a true American success story, born out of the creativity, work ethic and perseverance of a Depression-era businessman. Among many pursuits at the time, the founder of Kent leaned how to manufacture a paste (glue) from used tire inner tubes, brushed it onto felt, cork and rubber, and hand-stamped bumpers for use by the furniture industry and military - all from the basement of his house. This in turn led to other opportunities involving adhesives, foams and other materials, ultimately evolving into our current breadth of material sources and converting capabilities.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Kent Manufacturing was an innovator in the world of converting, often teaching our raw material suppliers where value could be found by identifying die cut opportunities, not just selling big rolls of material out of the factory. Our years of experience in the converting industry, combined with access to a tremendous array of materials, offers our customers world-class technical support and design solutions at very competitive prices. Working hard to exceed our customers' expectations for total part quality, customer service and pricing have allowed us to retain customers for years on end, and provide the foundation for continued growth into new markets.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
At this time all operations fall under the roof of our Grand Rapids headquarters. We are always exploring ways to better support our customers around the US and overseas. To date we have been able to accomplish this with our current operational structure, but who knows what the future will bring.
What type of payments do you accept?
Standard credit terms are Net 30 after credit approval. However, we offer several options for payment, working with our customers to suit their needs.
Which areas do you service?
Kent Manufacturing is very diversified with our customers falling into a multitude of markets. Some of our key markets are: Automotive, Medical, Electronics, Lighting, Transportation, Aerospace. Though not limited to these alone, we have materials and capabilities to serve any market.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
A family owned business, Mike Muraski is President & CEO and manages the daily operations.
What are your hours of operation?
8:00AM - 5:00PM, Monday-Friday.
